COST Action FA1301 CBC Training program represents the first course operating in Europe specifically and exclusively designed for the cephalopod molluscs in compliance with Article 23 and Annex V of the Directive 2010/63/EU.
CBC-Welfare2017 is part of the Cephalopod Biology and Care Training Program and is designed to comply the requirements of the “working document on the development of a common education and training framework to fulfill the requirements under the Directive 2010/63/EU” and FELASA recommendations for the accreditation of Education and Training courses in Laboratory Animal Science.
A limited number grants will be provided thanks to the COST Action FA1301 and the support provided by CephRes.
CBC2017 Training School is open to people who perform the four functions, as stated in article 23 of the Directive 2010/63/EU: carrying out procedures on animals, designing procedures and projects, taking care of animals, killing animals.
The FA1301 Cephs Biology and Care 2017 Training School covers practical implications for research, including cephalopod maintenance and care, capture, housing and handling, health and welfare management and assessment in any context, in compliance with Directive 2010/63/EU.

Course Description
CBC-Welfare2017 course program is designed to provide 40 hours of training – i.e., lectures, seminars, practical training, etc.
The program is designed around the “working document on the development of a common education and training framework to fulfill the requirements under the Directive 2010/63/EU”, and includes:
Core Modules
Function Specific (Prerequisite) Modules:
Function A: “carrying out procedures on animals”
Function C: “person taking care of animals”
Function D: “person killing animals”
This edition of the CBC, Cephalopod Biology and Care Course, will include cephalopod species-specific training encompassing information useful to qualified veterinarians and technicians, people required to handle cephalopods including capture from the wild, especially in light of the Directive.
CBC-Welfare2017 will also cover non-invasive or minimally invasive approaches as applied to cephalopods, and management and assessment of Cephalopod Welfare including establishment and monitoring of their physiological and behavioral needs.
CBC-Welfare2017 Trainees have to pass an individual assessment. The final results of the assessment will be published after the Course. According to the above-mentioned recommendations, each ‘student’ will be individually assessed for the achieved learning outcomes (final examination). In compliance with the requirements stated and to support students who need help to complete the course, students that did not pass during the final examination session will be allowed to attend a Exam Retake session organized no later than two months of the final examination.

In registering make sure that all sections included in the registration form are completed. Incomplete forms will be not considered and returned to applicant.
Registration is on first-come, first-served basis; please consider that SPACE IS LIMITED!

There are two registration fees: one including lodging and all meals, and one for people that want to provide lodging on their own.
– FULL REGISTRATION course fee is Euro 800.00
The full registration fee includes:

Accommodation: 4-star hotel and/or 3-star hotel double room (sharing) from Sunday July 2 2017 (IN – arrival afternoon) to Saturday July 8 2017 (OUT morning departure)

People that want to have independent, single accommodation should add 150 euro.

– Cancellation Policy
Full refund of the Registration Fee will be provided in case of cancelling within June 24 (2:00 pm CET). In case of cancelling on a later date Euro 250.00 will be invoiced.
For people cancelling and/or not-show and that selected and agreed for the Full Registration Fee consider to add 150 Euro to the above cancellation fee as single day accommodation full board, including taxes.
The cancellation fee will be invoiced.
– Payment Policy
All payments are in EUR. The registration system will take your data in respect to the privacy and the most advanced data-encryption method to secure your data. After processing your registration you will receive a link according to the payment method selected during registration. The link will be valid for 48 hours only! If payment will be not completed as expected, your registration will not be finalized and Local Organizers will contact you as follow-up. We accept credit cards and payment through bank transfers. After your payment is approved your registration is finalized. Registration Fee will be invoiced. Bank charges and any additional fee related with the payment are at own expense. We do not accept payments by check or at the Venue.
Financial Support
FA1301 Training School Grants available
The COST Action FA1301 offers a limited number grants to support Trainees to the CBC-Welfare2017 Training School.
People asking for financial support should provide a strong case in their Motivation Letter.
Only people originating from COST countries, approved NNC institutions and European RTD organizations are eligible to COST FA1301 Grants.
Please, remember that, according to the COST Vademecum, the grant is provided as reimbursement after the completion of the Training School.

Final ranking will match gender and inclusiveness COST policies. Preferences will be given to people with limited working experience in a regulated framework, according to Directive 2010/63/EU. COST strategy toward increased support early stage researchers and students will be applied.
